Macarena Ruiz Covarrubias is a Chilean dancer, choreographer and teacher based in Berlin since 2019. Professionally trained in Santiago de Chile, she developed much of her early career between Santiago and Valparaiso as a performer, choreographer and director of formative processes, especially with children and young people in projects such as Ballet Playa Ancha.
Throughout her career she has expanded her training through studies and workshops in Argentina, Greece and Germany, nourishing a hybrid scenic language that crosses contemporary techniques, Graham technique and lyrical jazz with Latin-American influences.
In Berlin, Ruiz has consolidated an interdisciplinary artistic practice, creating works such as Evolving Waves, combining contemporary dance with live music to explore transformation, emotionality and the inner processes of being.
In parallel, she develops a strong pedagogical practice with children, adults and older adults, promoting dance as a tool for expression, bodily connection and community.
